TV Beauté: MAC x Charlotte Olympia – review

On today’s video I reviewed the Charlotte Olympia for MAC collaboration – one of my all time favourite MAC collabs! There are also some pictures and more information below, as I got the chance to interview Charlotte for the Vogue Brazil exclusive article about the collection and learned more about her relationship to beauty.

How gorgeous is the packaging? I love Charlotte’s work and her brand and the products definitely carry the same creativity, sense of humour, sophistication and old Hollywood elegance that are her trademarks. The clear lucite lipstick packaging alone (a reference to the iconic Pandora clutch) is already a reason to call the products collector items.

How cute are the packages? She designed this pattern exclusively for the collection

Among my favourites are the 3 shades of red lipstick – Leading Lady Red, a deep red, Starlett Scarlet, a true red, and Retro Rouge, a deep brown red – and the 2 Cream Colour Base, a brown and a gold, to give a subtle depth to the eyes without being too “out there” and complement the lips. The Pigment is quite charming, a soft champagne sparkle that Charlotte suggests using as a final touch for face and body. And the brown eyeliner and mascara are also softer alternatives to black, to balance the lips out.

At the time of filming I didn’t yet have the two red Lipmix, but the story behind them is so sweet – this was the product she wore on her wedding day! As they last “forever” and are kiss proof. What about the accessories? Cutest things ever.

One of the highlights of being at the press launch in London for the interview was seeing the amazing vanity table Charlotte had made especially for the day – I wonder where it is now… And how can I get one just like that! And obviously, talking to her was wonderful. Charlotte (who is half Brazilian) is such a great character with really strong personality and amazing style. I really admire how she literally lives in this Hollywood glamour aesthetic, very carefully put together but zero obvious and really fresh at the same time.
