Farfetch + Space NK: my picks

29/03/16

I’m a fan of Space NK, the British beauty apothecary known for their amazing brand selection – it’s been featured here a lot recently, mainly due to their Beauty Intelligence campaign I was a part of in February (as shared here), the two events we did together at Space NK in New York and the tour around the store I filmed while there (here).

And last week I learned the news that Space NK has just launched at Farfetch. For those not familiar with Farfetch, it’s an e-commerce that brings together several boutiques from around the globe, very strong in fashion (special mention to their vintage section, I go crazy there), and now debuting in beauty. This is specially great for Brazil and other countries where access to some brands might not be as easy and the UK or US, and since I am always using and mentioning brands that are a bit more niche and harder to find, it’s always nice to see this distance become shorter. The magic of online shopping…

So to share the news on DDB, I picked 14 products that are great buys at Space NK via Farfetch – a mix of my beloved all time favourites with recent finds (I made a “test drive” purchase when I got the news… There’s always an excuse, but I had to report…). Here they are:

The Sensual Skin Enhancer Kevyn Aucoin (here)
This powerful concealer/all in one is a great product for those who want to try something from the legendary makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin’s brand. I think it’s one of the most never ending products I know of, as you literally only need a tiny bit to get a good coverage, and it’s super versatile. With a creamy to dense texture, it works super well for small areas but also for wider areas of the face – I know a few makeup artists who use it instead of a foundation. You can also mix it with your moisturiser to create a bespoke tinted moisturiser.

Skinesis Overnight Facial Sarah Chapman (here)
I love facial oils (a blog post about it is coming soon), and this one by Sarah Chapman, a top London facialist, is one of my favourite night products – with light texture and peptides, A, C and E vitamins and essential oils in the formula, it works as a facial while you sleep. The delicious fragrance is a plus and totally puts me in the mood for a good night sleep.

Moroccan Rose Otto Body Wash REN (here)
A wonderfully fragranced product can transform your regular bath/shower into something much nicer and REN’s Rose Otto range is super special – I’ve used the bath oil in the past, currently have the body oil and decided to try the body wash. If you like roses it’s a great option, and it earns bonus points for being organic.

Luna Sleeping Night Oil Sunday Riley (here)
Another night oil I’ve been loving – I alternate it with the Sarah Chapman Skinesis mentioned above. Luna combines a retinol complex, that acts on wrinkles, pores and firmness, with essential oils that calm and make the skin more radiant. Just like any other Sunday Riley product, it is super efficient and a success amongst critics and the public (another favourite of mine is the Ceramic Slip cleanser, featured on the last Vic loves).

Arch brow pencil Hourglass (here)
With the perfectly “almost dry” texture, ideal for achieving natural looking brows, a slanted tip and a brush in the other end, I’d say this brow pencil is one of the best for unexperienced ladies… It’s really hard to get it wrong! You can subtly enhance your brows, fill in the gaps, but without making it look fake or exaggerated.

Ambient Blush Hourglass (here)
I’ve been coveting this Hourglass blush since… forever. I know I sound like a broken record when I say how much I love their Ambient powder and its magical glow effect (it is featured in most of my videos!), and a blush version of it sounded like an amazingly great idea. It took me some time, but I finally bought one to try – I went for the Luminous Flush, that mixes a “medium” rose shade with a champagne powder to provide a blush + glow look – there are 7 shades available. It will be featured in a future TV Beauté for sure.

Eyelash Curler Kevyn Aucoin (here)
If you follow my TV Beauté’s videos, you’ll notice for sure that I use Kevyn’s Eyelash Curler in most of them – since I tried it, it became a fave and, together with the MAC one, it beat the Shu Uemura for me. Eyelash curlers are something really personal, since there is a “perfect match” between them and your eye/lash format… I found mine! If you haven’t found your other half, it’s worth giving it a try…

Breakout Spot-on Dr Sebagh (here)
While doing a research to find good blemish remedies, I heard about this one by Dr Sebagh and bought it to try. I thought it sounded promising since it claims to be efficient, but not aggressive, and it’s a colourless cream that you can also use during the day… We’ll see!

Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured Becca (here)
Another one of my “test drive” purchases – I hear wonderful things about Becca highlighters and had never tried any of them. It was hard to choose, because there is a liquid version, a powder version, a creamy version… I opted for Poured, the creamy one, it’s a texture I love for the super natural effect that says “my glow comes from within”. I choose the shade Moonstone, a light gold, and will also use it soon in a video to show you the effect.

Wash Off Tan James Read (here)
A great tip on the body makeup category is the Wash Off Tan by James Read, a self tan master from London – he works with many top models and celebrities and also has his own line. This cream, as the name suggests, is a wash off – so no strings attached – that tints skin immediately and without transferring to clothes. Good for a last minute enhancement on your legs or arms before going out.

Ambient Bronzer Hourglass (here)
The same thing I wrote for the blush above applies to the bronzer! But it really follows that logic… I haven’t tried it yet, but something tells me I will love it. I went for the Luminous Bronze shade, but there is a darker one, Radiant Bronze.

Baume de Rose By Terry (here)
It belongs to the hall of fame of lipglosses, and is wonderful in every sense: dense texture, super moisturising, marvellous scent, luxurious packaging… Mine stays in the vanity table and I always apply it before doing my makeup, alternating it with a couple of other favourites. It was on my wishlist for a long time, because it isn’t cheap, but when I finally bought it I did not regret – it’s one of those luxuries that are so worth it (not to say it’s pratically never ending). Baume de Rose also has a more liquid version that comes in a gloss package, which I bought on my Farfetch test drive and I am loving to carry on my purse.

Faux Cils Mascara Chantecaille (here)
When I went to New York for the Space NK events, to celebrate the Beauty Intelligence campaign, I asked the sales ladies which were the best sellers of the store and their personal favourite products – this Chantecaille mascara was on top of both lists. I got one to try and I really liked it, it’s one of those mascaras that give you a really natural effect with one coat, but also work great with several coats for a more dramatic effect.

Ombre Blackstar By Terry (here)
I am the number 1 fan of stick creamy eyeshadows and this By Terry one was one of the first to make it to my collection. I have it in Blond Opal, a light gold that is great to highlight the inner corner of the eye or give a soft shimmer to the whole eyelid, and now I got two brown shades, a pink and a silver to try!
