In this section I invite men I admire to share their grooming routine, tips and beauty secrets.

Today we have Hermés Galvão, brazilian (carioca!) journalist and one of my all time favourite people, who I had the privilege to call boss for a few years when I worked for the now discontinued magazine RG Vogue Brazil. We are still colleagues at Vogue Brazil, where he has a column, and in May he’s publishing his first book in Brazil, “How to travel in times of financial and existential crisis?” in a free translation.

“Ok, let’s do this. My current grooming routine is more or less like this: on my face I use the Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel and the Clinique moisturiser, the yellow fragrance free one. Once a month I apply a Dead Sea mud mask by Ahava – for that super deep cleanse, it leaves you with very soft skin! For the body I apply a moisturiser by Korres or the Santa Maria Novella Body Milk. I no longer wear a perfume, I don’t like it anymore… Now I can only tolerate the scent of the moisturiser, that you can only smell if you come very close. For my beard I use Aesop Shine Hair Oil, which is for the hair, but I apply on my beard, that I trim at home. On my hair, I use an anti-hair loss shampoo (yes, I turned 40) that they push me when I get a haircut – it’s one by Aveda that doesn’t smell like cosmetics and gives body to my hair. I cut my hair in Rio de Janeiro with the hairstylist Felipe Freitas and in Paris, where I currently live, with Stephane Fremy, who comes to my house. Both of them keep monitoring me because I have a tendency to be wild and, if they let me, I become a caveman! Finally, the lips: I always carry Burt’s Bees lip balm, it’s like a lighter – I have one in every backpack, pants, pockets…”
